About

Kali Campbell,
Occupational
Therapist

Hey there, I'm Kali! I am an occupational therapist serving children and their families in Austin, Texas and am the owner of Empowering Play, LLC. I am obsessed with child development, sensory integration, and psychology and love sharing what I've learned with others. I enjoy learning about the unique strengths and challenges of the families I work with and finding supportive strategies that work well for both the child and the caregiver.

I specialize in sensory processing and mental health challenges. I absolutely love supporting children who have spicier temperaments and intense behaviors with nervous system regulation so they can participate in life with more ease and joy. I have experience working in a variety of settings, including an inclusive preschool, a juvenile detention center, an outpatient pediatric therapy clinic, a residential treatment center for children healing from trauma, and home health. I also have experience as a live-in respite care provider for individuals with special needs. My experience in the caregiving role has deepened my understanding of how chaotic it can be to care for individuals who are unable to express strong feelings in safe ways. I also understand how frustrating it can be to receive unhelpful advice from well-meaning professionals or family members who don’t understand what your day-to-day life is like. This experience enriches my ability to understand the challenges my clients face and collaborate with them to make incremental changes over time to cultivate a more peaceful and joyful connection with their children.

Empowering
Play, LLC

Did you know that one of the most efficient, yet simple, ways for children to learn is through play? Through play, children strengthen and develop skills in all areas of their lives. Empowering Play was created with this in mind and as an avenue to support children and their families in meeting their developmental goals. Empowering Play recognizes and celebrates children for their unique ways of being in this world and helps them to build upon their skills so they can reach their full potential. You will be provided with tools and strategies to support their needs along the way!

Empowering Play utilizes a trauma-informed, strengths-based, neurodivergent-affirming approach to intervention. Sessions are approached with the understanding that a good connection is essential for your child to feel safe and to be able to learn new skills. As the most influential person in your child's life, your active participation in their treatment is essential. We will collaborate to find strategies that are feasible and fun for you to implement week-by-week.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy (OT) is a holistic approach to improve functional skills needed for daily life. It can support your child in meeting their developmental goals through engaging and playful activities. It can address the development of skills including, but not limited to: fine motor, gross motor, visual processing, coordination, emotional regulation, cognition, sensory processing, self-care, and social skills.
